Artist Statement
Nature is my primary inspiration. Painting has become the process through which I come to understand the magical color and light of our natural world. I primarily work in acrylic paints using vibrant pigments to emphasize and sometimes exaggerate the colors I see in the landscape. In my recent work, I have especially been experimenting with interference and iridescent paints to help capture subtle color changes and reflections. Working from a combination of plein air sketches and reference photos, I also incorporate abstraction and pattern to evoke a sense of memory as opposed to a strict representation of a specific place.
